SILIGURI, April 2: Senior BJP leader and the former external affairs minister Mr Jaswant Singh is likely to contest from the Darjeeling constituency as the BJP candidate.

According to Mr SS Ahluwalia, the BJP leader in-charge of West Bengal, the GJMM leadership met Mr LK Advani in New Delhi today and urged him to field the BJP veteran from the Darjeeling constituency. “The central leadership of the BJP would take the final decision on the matter tomorrow,” Mr Ahluwalia said. He further said that the party manifesto would also come up tomorrow.

The West Bengal BJP general secretary, Mr Rahul Sinha, said that the name of Mr Jaswant Singh as a probable party candidate from Darjeeling was under active consideration of the BJP central leadership.
